Welcome to the Yorkshire Dales website. We're one of 57 geographically based centres which form part of The Caravan and Motorhome Club. If you are a member of The Caravan and Motorhome Club, and you would like to experience caravan & motorhoming in and around the Yorkshire Dales why not come and join us on one of our rallies.
A rally is a get-together for a weekend or several days (holiday) to promote friendship and enjoy common pastimes in a light-hearted manner, and always have a bit of fun.
There is no obligation to join in anything which doesn't interest you, nor will you be pressurised to do so. The Rally Marshal is an ordinary member who has volunteered to organise and run the Rally.
This usually includes liaising with the landowner, placing direction signs on the approach and the rally venue, and maybe organising competitions and entertainment for all ages.
Events may include a social on a Saturday evening, either on the rally field or in a local hall; this is a family affair, usually with games for all and a bit of music (have a dance or just listen).
Arrangements are made for a water supply and the disposal of wastewater, and the emptying of toilet cassettes. The rally usually starts at 12pm, however the exact details are shown on the booking system: bookwhen.com, as the rally start times do vary. Please do not arrive before the advertised start time, as the marshal could still be setting up the rally.
On arrival at the rally, drive up to the rally office caravan or motor home, where you will be welcomed and can pay for the rally if you have not already done so via BACS. If this is your first rally, please let the rally marshal know. You will then be handed an envelope containing the rally programme of activities and simple advice on local amenities, restrictions and arrangements for waste.
Most rallies have an 'opening flag' on the first evening at the marshal's van, an opportunity to meet your fellow ralliers. Towards the end of the rally, there is a ‘closing flag’ where the ralliers meet to hear the results of the competitions, extend thanks to those who made the rally possible, particularly the marshals, welcome visitors and new ralliers and announce forthcoming events.
All you need in addition to items you would typically expect to take on a commercial site is your own toilet together with a water container to fill it (toilets must never be taken to the drinking tap, this is a serious health hazard) and a container for dry waste which you must bring home with you.
To level your caravan, simple plastic or wooden wedges are sometimes needed for sloping fields. The venue is marked out to ensure ample spacing between caravans, and finally, please read the rules that appear on this website, and, where necessary, make sure the other members of your family are aware of what is expected of them.
If you would rather speak to someone before deciding to join us, please feel free to telephone or email any officer or committee member for further information.
We look forward to seeing you.
